- LLoyd George wanted temperance with Germany
- Wilson had 14 point plan, but 7 major: 1) Open treaties, 2) Freedom of the seas, 3) Everyone out of the Balkans, 4) Leauge of Nations, 5)Out of Turkey, 6) Disarmament, 7) Self-determination
- He believes that the problem is disallowing independence and that this grows out of competition SO, get rid of competition, give up on colones, and don't follow imperialistic beliefs
- Europe does NOT like this because they are all mad at Germany so this plan fails, France and England blame Germany and want to put a money value on the misery they caused: 33 BILLION DOLLARS (did anyone just think of Austin Powers??)
- They want to make sure that Germany can't do this again, so they make it so that Germany can't have an army, can only have 1,000 cops and only three ships, they can't have coal (for 15 years and then they can buy it back), and there colonies were taken away
- PROBLEMS WITH TREATY: France and England owe huge amounts of money to American banks
- They can't pay it back because Germany can't pay them due to the fact they have NO money either
- America has to make loans to Germany so that eventually Americans can get money back
- THIS CAUSED THE GREAT DEPRESSION, WHICH THEN CAUSED WORLD WAR II, WHICH THEN CAUSED THE COLD WAR!!! DAMN THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES :)
